Power of using simple language while constructing a blog

Power of using simple language while constructing a blog

The other day I read a series of articles written by @adonisabril which are still on trending page on steemit. If you haven’t seen them yet please do pay a visit and read them here and here on steemit. He is basically a traveler and blogger. If you wish to know more about him and travel blogging, do consider visiting his blog. It is after a long time that we were able to witness quality adorning the trending page of steemit. Thanks to @steempress in particular for making it happen by setting stage for professional bloggers in this blockchain.

He has brilliantly articulated the art of constructing a travel blog in the first post and ventured into teaching the community of traveling worldwide free of cost in the second. Both are top notch and worth enough to get 1000s of dollars of upvotes. In fact I have learned a lot of new things from those articles. These articles appears to me to be a coincidence as I have started my own wordpress blog just two days back. I was struggling to setting it up and experimented a lot of things myself only to see the site finally crashing. His tutorials helped me like anything!

Among plethora of things he has discussed over there, one specific thing that attracted me to the core was him mentioning the power of simplicity while writing blogs. He wrote that one should give some thoughts on the simplicity of the language used in their blogs.

DOES SIMPLICITY REALLY MATTERS?

Certainly does. Me being an Indian I can’t expect myself to be as fluent in English as a native speaker unless I’m exposed to their premises. When I look for a content on internet I expect it to be simple enough to understand. But unfortunately what happens is that whenever I search on internet, many websites turns out to be a show off of the authors. They use a language that even William Shakespeare may find difficult to understand. While even native speakers struggle to cope eith those usages, how can a person having a medium level of expertise in the language follow those blogs? It is impossible!

Although I’m not that good an English user, I can still distort actual things to make it look much harder on my blogs. That is where one should fail as a blogger. As the above mentioned blogger says in his article, a blog needs to be as simple as possible in its language and construction to attract even a 10 year old toddler into engaging. Failing which will result in the declining of audience. It is a mantra one should keep on telling to him/herself while involving with their blog. I can point out a lot of authors as examples to back this claim. But would like to refrain from that act because of the simplicity I would like to maintain in my blog!

Simplicity pushes readers to keep on engaging with the content without getting bored. How many of us would be ready to read a 5000 words article containing full of words whose meanings are impossible to find without the help of Oxford dictionary? Not most of us. Isn’t it? That’s where the importance of simplicity lies in!

Said that, In fact I’m trying to develop my vocabulary or else it would be hard to organize articles in the way I want. Beauty is that for a creator even the toughest of the words has to be familiar in order to make a simple content!

I’m on the process of learning and setting up a good website. Let us see how far I can be susccessfull.

Good wishes from,

@sathyasankar

Fifa World Cup and India

I know I am already too late here in this topic considering the pace with which the world is moving . When it comes to India, football has always been a secondary thing. This custom has been in place ever since the time unknown. Rather, Cricket is the game which has stolen the hearts of Indian fans. It might be a weird fact to those who are not aware of the indian norms.

But that doesn’t mean that Indians are completely noobs at this sort of things. India has its own national football team which is globally ranked at 97th place and also sets stage for club matches between the teams representing various metropolitan cities. Various organizations and government are putting lot of efforts towards enhancing the growth of football in this nation. After all, India is a country ranked second only next to china in the case of population. Among 1.3 Billion people, for sure a lot of Messies are there, a lot of Ronaldos are there. The only task India as a nation has to do is to sort and pull them out from the big crowd and provide them with proper arenas inorder to utilize their talent.

One thing that amazes us all is that the expertise level the national cricket team of India has is almost incomparable! The history of cricket in India dates back to more than hundred years when this nation had been in under control of the British. It was Britishers, ie the England, who introduced cricket here first. It used to be the game played by the elites in the society. Hence the name gentleman’s game become apt for it. Over the years cricket turned out to be the favourite sports of this nation despite having its own national game- Hockey! To put it frankly, Cricket is not actually being followed by many except for a handful of countries. Also football is not being followed by many in India.

Cricket Vs Football

This debate is in place in India for decades now. As of me, Football is the greatest game over all other games. Every subtle aspect of a player is challenged here in football. Your mind, physique, and everything must be perfect to become a decent football player. And the 90 minutes! god..The 90 minutes you play football is like you are dedicating everything that you have for the victory of your side. Although every game is great in their own limits, FOOTBALL IS THE GREATEST OF ALL!

In this world cup I’m going to support the team Argentina. I am a die-hard fan of Lionel Messi and the team Argentina. I remember the word cup of 2010 when I desperately hoped for the victory of Argentina and vigorously got into argument with my friends who supported other teams, especially Brazil . I thought the team in my hope would clinch the cup in 2014 but in vain. Infact, we have been expecting for that to happen for decades. I hope finally it will become a palpable reality in 2018!

What is your favorite team?

My review of Steempress- A platform that can attract unprecedented quality into Steem Blockchain!

My review of Steempress- A platform that can attract unprecedented quality into Steem Blockchain!

This post is first of its kind as far as myself is concerned because this is for the first time that I’m using a different platform other than Steemit to draft a steem article! Those who are going to read this obviously belong to two entirely different blogging sites- One is obviously the one and only Steemit and the another is WordPress. I’m sure that a lot of people must have become aware of @steempress-io by now. To those of my followers and whoever read this who haven’t heard of such a thing, I would like to introduce Steempress in a glance.

# What is SteemPress? #

Steempress is a new plugin available in WordPress. By installing and entrusting it with the private posting key of steemit account, one can connect his/her WordPress website with their steemit profile. By doing so, blogs posted on WordPress will easily be replicated on Steemit.com. If you are a blogger on WordPress you can monetize your contents through the steem blockchain through this way. In case you are reading this article on my wordpress website, chances are very high that you might not have heard about steemit to this date. If so, please do read this [quora answer](https://www.quora.com/What-is-Steemit). To know more about steempress one for sure should visit their own [press release](https://steemit.com/steempress/@steempress-io/steempress-answers-to-common-questions-and-update-to-design)

# Me and WordPress and now Steempress #

So this story dates back to 2013. I was a first year engineering graduate student then. It was then that I got acquainted with various blogging sites. The very first such site was Twitter which is essentially meant for Micro-Blogging. Many twitter celebrities used to attach the link of their personal blogging sites in their Bio. Out of curiosity, I created an account in such a free blogging site where I wrote almost nothing. Years rolled on. I started to realize the potential of personal blogs from various sources. But starting such a Blogging site seemed not my piece of cake since by then I had realized that I wasn’t that good a writer! Also the huge costs associated with securing a good domain name and hosting service added to my concerns!

Literally, discovering quora and steemit turned a boon to me. It is quite evident from the datas available from my various personal social media profiles that my writing skills have been improved a lot since I had come to steemit! I even do firmly believe that with brushing something up I can undoubtedly become a professional Blogger!( I leave the full freedom with you to decide whether or not I’m joking!:) )

I would undoubtedly say that the introduction of steempress into the blockchain has shed a new ray of hope on my dreams of becoming a good blogger! It was through one of my friends on steemit @erode that I got to know about steempress. Later on, I started exploring more about it and ended up purchasing and possessing a wordpress account having my name as the domain. @bala41288 helped me in setting up a proper WordPress blog and server for a nominal fee. We have reached in consensus on making the payment through steem dollars! I’m really happy to announce that the very blog that you are reading right now is my very first post on wordpress!

# Let’s talk about Quality now! #

Steemit is just 2 years old as of now. Number of steem accounts which has been created here so far is mere 1million. Only a small percentage of that number accounts for real human. Rest represent bots and multiple accounts. If we break it down  further, it is easily understandable that the number of real and active users comes around 100k. Again, Lion’s share of these users come here for nothing but in search of some free money and hence it becomes a waste of time to expect quality from those users. They try their maximum but unfortunately the output is being categorized as pure crap! none and nothing to blame!

On the other hand, there is no dearth of good quality content producers in the ocean of internet. Most of them are confined within their worlds of blogging and other forms of contents creation. Bringing them to steem blockchain means bringing high quality to this place. Steempress is a pioneer concept towards achieveing this goal. Setting wordpress users as target is not a small thing considering the traffic and the alexa ranking the WordPress.com & WordPress.org now boasts of!

# A win-win situation! #

Steempress creates a win-win situation to those who are already on steemit and those bloggers on wordpress who are yet to discover the blockchain technology! As I said before, most of those who come here are laymen who are in search of making some extra bucks. If they are capable, introducing them to the wordpress opens a plethora of opportunities. They can discover everything and make themselves flexible to the suitable platform.

And when it comes to steemit which is already lacking quality because of the continuous upsurge of shitposts on the trending page, arrival of good bloggers would be a blessing. These bloggers from the wordpress on the other hand will feel satisfied to find such a great platform like steemit to showcase their talent! Indeed this is not just a win-win situation but, infact it is a **Win-Win-Win** situation as the all three parties involved, ie, WordPress bloggers, Steemit and Steemit users, directly benefit from this project!

# Final words #

My conclusion is that one should experiment everything inorder to come to a fine decision. Those who see this project with the eye of skepticism should give a try to undertstand the actual intentions. I see #steempress to be a revolutionary concept that has found its way to the blockchain!

WISHING ALL THE BEST TO @steempress-io AND LOOKING FORWARD TO BEING A PART OF THIS GREAT PROJECT!
